Terms of service

Last updated 10 September 2026

These terms are a contract between you and Thena Holdings Limited (company number 17091225, registered at The Dye House, Thunderbridge, Kirkburton, Huddersfield HD8 0PU). By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the app.

1. Who can use this

You must be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and block anyone under 18. Giving a false date of birth to get access is a breach of these terms and we will close your account.

The app is for students of the University of York and York St John University. We check that your account email is at one of those universities, and nothing else about you. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the University of York or York St John University, and university affiliation shown on a profile is self-declared and unverified.

We do not run background checks on anyone. Nobody on this app has been vetted.

2. Your account

Keep your password to yourself and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us at hello@findyourlink.co.uk if you think someone has got into it.

One account per person. Do not impersonate anyone, use someone else's photos, or create an account on behalf of another person.

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion is permanent, and it stays available even if your account is suspended.

3. Community rules

These are the rules. Breaking them can get your account suspended or removed, usually without warning where safety is involved.

Do not:

Please do: be honest about who you are, treat people the way you would in person, and tell us when something is wrong.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us permission to store and show it inside the app so that the app can work — displaying your profile to people you are discoverable to, and nothing more. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You confirm that what you post is yours to post, and that any photo you upload is of you and does not include people who have not agreed to appear.

Your profile text — bio, questionnaire answers and interest tags — is screened automatically before it is published, and we may remove anything that breaks these rules. Messages you send in chat are not screened. They go straight to the other person; nobody and nothing checks them before they arrive. Photos are checked before anyone else sees them — a photo you upload is visible only to you until it passes, and we tell you if it does not. The check is automated and will sometimes be wrong; if yours is refused unfairly, email us and a person will look at it.

You can still report someone over what they sent you in chat, the same as for anything else they do on the app — see the next section.

5. Reporting, blocking, and what we do about it

You can block anyone. Blocking is immediate and mutual: you disappear from each other, any match between you is removed, and they are not told.

You can report anyone. Reports go to a moderation queue that we review. We may suspend or remove accounts, and we do not have to explain our reasoning in detail, though we will tell you if action is taken on your report where we can.

If you are in danger, contact the police on 999. We are not an emergency service and we cannot help in an emergency.

6. Meeting people in person

The app is for making introductions. What happens afterwards is between you and the other person.

We do not vet, interview, or check anyone. We cannot confirm that a person is who they say they are. Take the ordinary precautions: meet in public first, tell a friend where you are going, arrange your own transport, and leave whenever you want to.

7. The AI features

The app writes compatibility summaries and suggests messages. They are generated by software, they are sometimes wrong, and they are not advice about a person. Do not treat an AI summary as a reason to trust someone.

The features are limited to a set number of uses per day.

8. Availability

This is a small service and we do not promise it will always be available, bug-free, or preserved. We may change or withdraw features. If we shut the service down we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to get your data out.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably believe you are a risk to other users, or if we are required to. Where it is safe and fair to do so we will tell you why.

You can close your account whenever you like, for any reason.

10. Our liability

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Your rights as a consumer under UK law are not affected by anything in these terms.

Subject to that: we provide the app as it is, we are not responsible for the conduct of other users whether on the app or in person, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

12. Changes

We will tell you in the app before we make a material change to these terms. If you do not accept a change, close your account.
